Many people may consider that they are familiar with the term disruptive Innovation. Before attempting to discuss this topic, it would be prudent to first define what is innovation.

Definition of Innovation

The process of translating an idea or invention into either goods/products or services that creates value or for which customers will pay. Here customers can either be external customers or internal customers for example the ICT team can come up with an innovation which allows finance – accounts payable department process payments faster and efficiently reducing the number of people and time spent in processing.

To be called an innovation, an idea must be replicable at an economical cost and must satisfy a specific need. Innovation involves deliberate application of information, imagination and initiative in deriving greater or different values from resources, and includes all processes by which new ideas are generated and converted into useful products. In business, innovation often results when ideas are applied by the company in order to further satisfy the needs and expectations of the customers.

Definition Disruptive innovation
Disruptive innovation, a term of art coined by Clayton Christensen, who describes it as a process by which a product or service takes root initially in simple applications at the bottom of a market and then relentlessly moves up market, eventually displacing established competitors

This definition is what derives The theory of disruptive innovation which if applied by an organization, will reduce/eliminate complicated, expensive products and services with simplier and affordable ones.

The Theory of Disruptive innovation demonstrates that thre are actually two different trajectories of performance improvement in every market.

Trajectory one – Sustaining Innovation
This is the trajectory of continual improvement of a product or service that is introduced by companies over time. Although these innovations can be either small and incremental or dramtic breakthroughs they tend to sustain the existing trajectory of performance improvement. Sustaining innovation results in better products that can be sold for higher profits to the best customers.

Trajectory two – Disruptive Innovation
The trajectory of disruptive innovation is made possible because innovation gets started through two types of markets that incumbents overlooks

Low-end footholds
This exists because incumbents typically try to provide their most profitable and demanding customers with ever improving products and services, and they pay less attention to less demanding customers. This opens the door to a disrupter focused(at first) on providing those low-end customers with a “good enough” product.

new-market footholds
This is where a disrupter creats a market where none existed ie they find a way to turn nonconsumers into customers.

Impact of Disruptive Innovation on Value
With disruptive innovation, upstart companies, in an effort to deliver more affordable and accessible solutions are maode to away once dominant firts with alarming regularity, often before the incumbents and their leaders realize that their days are numbered.

Disruptive Technologies And Business-Model Innovations
The starting point of a successful business model is its value proposition: a product or service that helps customers get a job done more effectively, conveniently, and affordably. The role of the managers in this process to bring together a set of resources (people, suppliers, intellectual property – IP, equipment, budget) required to deliver the value proposition. As employees and other resources repeatedly work together to generate the product, processes emerge and become ingrained in the business model. Finally, a profit formula materializes, which defines the pricing, mark-ups, gross and net profit margins, asset turns, and volumes necessary to profitably cover the costs of the resources and processes that are required to deliver the value proposition. Over time, an established business model begins to determine the types of value propositions an organization can and cannot deliver. In other words, once the pieces of a business model have coalesced to deliver a particular value proposition, the causality of events begins to work in reverse—only value propositions that fit the existing resources, processes, and profit formula of the organization can be successfully taken to market

A Typology Of Business Models
In general, business models can be categorized into three types: solution shops, value-adding process businesses, and facilitated user networks.

Solution shops
Solution shops are institutions built to diagnose and solve unstructured problems. Consulting firms, advertising agencies, research and development organizations, and many law firms employ this type of business model. These solution shops deliver value primarily through the people they employ—experts who draw upon their intuition and problem-solving skills to diagnose the cause of complicated problems and recommend solutions—and successful firms are those that can attract the best talent. Solutionshop work tends to be unique for each customer, who is often quite willing to pay very high prices in return.

Value-adding process businesses
These businesses transform inputs of resources, such as people, equipment, raw materials, energy, and capital, into outputs of greater value. The business model is built to do this in repetitive ways so that the organization’s capabilities are embedded more in its processes than in its resources. Although some value-adding process businesses may be more efficient than others, as a whole they focus their attention on process excellence that can deliver high-quality services and products consistently at a lower cost, and they are less affected than other types of businesses are by the variability that occurs when outcomes depend on people’s intuition. Often, results can be guaranteed or redone free of charge. Retailing, restaurants, automobile manufacturing, and petroleum refining are examples of this type of business model.

Facilitated user networks.
User networks are enterprises in which the same people buy and sell and deliver and receive things to and from each other. In these types of businesses, the companies that deliver value and make money are those that facilitate the effective operation of the network and its user transactions. Mutual insurance companies are usernetwork businesses—customers deposit their insurance premiums into a collective pool, and they take claims out of it. Telecommunications companies, which facilitate calls and data transfers among their customers,as well as the online auction site eBay, stock exchanges, and many activities of banks are also user-network businesses.

Conclusion
When moving towards the Disruptive Innovation in an organization, the appropriate solution is to encourage the development of disruptive business models that can assume a greater share of the workload. By coupling technological advances with appropriately matched business models, disruptive innovation can bring about affordability and accessibility to industries ranging from steel making to personal finance. It is also worth pointing out that some organizations have achieved Distruptive innovation through Lean Six Sigma. Lean Six sigma has been the key driver for performance improvement for many companies, including more than 50 percent of the Fortune 500 companies. One CEO from a Fortune 500 copmany pointed out that his company used tactical innovation within the DMAIC methodology to generate the savings needed to fund the strategic or disruptive innovation that was launched at the corporate level.

  10. Adam Bandt said people ‘can make their own judgment’ about him enjoying an exclusive and discretionary perk from Qantas during a tense exchange with a
    journalist live on radio.

The Greens leader has been outed as a member of the Qantas Chairman’s Lounge, an invitation-only set of catered waiting areas and services handed out by the
airline in what has been called ‘Australia’s most exclusive club’.

Mr Bandt was challenged on Monday by ABC Radio National stand-in host Steve Cannane that he was
‘enjoying free hospitality from a company that has illegally sacked hundreds of workers’.

Mr Bandt replied: ‘And I’ll declare that and people can make their own judgement about what they think about that.’

Cannane was referring to the Federal Court’s ruling that Qantas illegally sacked 1,700 workers at the start of the Covid pandemic in a case brought by Transport Workers Union.

Commenting on the sacking in June of 2020, Mr Bandt
called it a ‘devastating day for thousands of Qantas workers
& their families’ in a Facebook post. ‘We’re thinking of you,’ he wrote.

Cannane challenged Mr Bandt further saying: ‘You don’t think you should be a little purer on this
and just not take their (Qantas’s) hospitality?’

Mr Bandt said he always made declarations about matters such
as this and argued that the party’s policies to tax big corporations heavily show the perks were not
    impacting the Greens.

How Greens leader Adam Bandt spent thousands on private jet flights
while lecturing YOU about climate change

Mr Bandt was spotted in September flying business class from Melbourne to Canberra seated next to Senator Jacqui Lambie.

Albanese government ministers Tim Watts and Catherine King
were on the same flight but were with the masses in economy class.

It has been previously reported that Mr Bandt opts to frequently fly business despite his party’s core
    policy of cutting C02 emissions.

Flying business class emits about three times as much carbon as economy
class because the seats take up more room and more of them are empty,
according to a World Bank study.

Fellow Greens MP Max Chandler-Mather last year said he had shunned a Chairman’s Lounge
membership and refuses to travel business class.

Earlier this year Mr Bandt’s flying habits led to controversy.

Mr Bandt’s flying habits have been a previous source of controversy after it was revealed he frequently opts for business class and has even taken private jets
    to election events

Mr Bandt used two private jets during the 2022 federal election campaign, landing tax payers with the $23,
    000 bill.

One flight was between Queensland regional centres Townsville and Rockhampton on March 7 but he also boarded a
$15,000 private plane along the well-travelled Brisbane to Canberra route to attend his party’s election campaign launch.

Mr Bandt isn’t the only politician in the hot seat with Prime Minister
Anthony Albanese being asked if he has included both
his son and partner as ‘plus one’ Chairman’s Club members.

He is also being asked about free flight upgrades including an international one he is alleged to have received from Qantas
in new book The Chairman’s Lounge authored by former
Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston.

The Greens are licking their electoral wounds after the Queensland state poll, where they are battling to hold onto their two seats after stating they aimed
to triple their representation in parliament.

With 72 per cent of the vote counted they appear to have retained the Brisbane seat of Maiwar but suffered a 4.6 per cent swing to the
    ALP.

However, they remain behind South Brisbane, which has seen a
massive 12.4 per cent swing to Labor with 64 per cent of
    votes counted.

WHAT IS THE QANTAS CHAIRMAN’S CLUB?

The Qantas Chairman’s Lounge is an invitation-only club approved by the
company chairman, with the guest list a closely-guarded
    secret.

It has been dubbed ‘the most exclusive club in the country’ and comes with a distinct black card.

Members include senior-ranking MPs including ministers, state premiers and the
Prime Minister, leaders of major unions and sporting groups, Qantas
    ambassadors, selected A-list celebrities, major
corporate figures and high-profile media personalities.

The clubs can be found in Sydney, Melbourne,
Canberra, Brisbane, Perth and Adelaide but are not signed, you
have to know where to look.

Inside you will find expensive wood and brass furnishings,
wool carpet and marble flooring all bathed in natural light.

Members enjoy fine à la carte dining with a complimentary premium array of beers, spirits and Australian wines.
Wine bottles are often given as departing gift

Facilities may also include spas, showers and an assortment of books and magazines.

Members may bring in two guests at a time.

Lounge attendants personally alert you when your flight
is to board and your personal preferences are logged for each flight.
Membership also entitles you to first-class facilities at Qantas partner airlines.

  12. The existence of an exclusive hideaway for
the country’s movers and shakers where secret deals were done in private luxury first exploded into the public eye back in 2007.

Back then, the fact that Qantas spent hundreds of thousands of dollars wining and dining the
nation’s political elite in ultra-exclusive VIP
    lounges was relatively unknown.

It was a time before Alan Joyce’s tenure as the CEO of Qantas
had even started, when he was boss of the comparatively
    lowly budget airline, Jetstar.

And unlike Anthony Albanese’s current slide in the
polls leading up to an election in next year, the prospects back in 2007 were rosy for Labor.

The election that was looming was the ‘Kevin 07’ landslide
that would see Kevin Rudd become prime minister and John Howard lose his own seat.

The issue which blew open the ‘guilty secret’ of the Chairman’s Lounge then wasn’t about a
prime minister’s privileges, although John Howard and Kevin Rudd were certainly both members during their terms as PM.

But when broadcaster Steve Price – himself a long time Chairman’s Lounge member – revealed
a politically charged remark made within the club’s hallowed
walls, the cat was out of the bag.

The political revelation – a comment by ex-rock star turned senator Peter Garrett that Labor
would change the policies it campaigned on if it won government – did not deter
his party from romping in on election day.

In contrast, the scandal currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about
his Chairman’s Lounge membership and that of his
ex-wife Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring down the prime minister.

The exclusive Qantas Chairman’s Lounge (above)
has been a well-kept secret for years, but it exploded into the public
conscience in 2007 as the result of a political furore

Broadcaster Steve Price revealed he had been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002
during a row before the 2007 election won by Kevin Rudd which let the cat out of the bag about the VIP club

The existence of the lounge was so little known back in 2007 that in defending his
disclosure of Garrett’s remark, Steve Price had to explain what the private enclave actually was.

In a first person piece he wrote: ‘The Chairman’s Lounge is a separate frequent flyers lounge
away from the crowded normal Qantas Club.

‘As its name implies, the people given access to it are approved by
    the Qantas chairman, Margaret Jackson.

    ‘I have been a Chairman’s Lounge member since 2002.’

In his opinion piece, Price also revealed TV entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins was also
    a member of lounge.

Wilkins had also been inside at the time and was his only
witness to the remark Price said Garrett had made.

Other prominent media figures, such as 60 Minutes reporters, actors and performers,
and well-known writers and sports people are said to be among the lounge’s exclusive membership of around 6000.

Price went on to defend himself for reporting what some claimed was a confidential conversation in a private
place, but which exposed him to criticism over
his own membership for allegedly promoting Qantas on his radio show.

Back in 2007, Alan Joyce (left) was boss of the comparatively
lowly budget airline Jetstar, and then Qantas CEO Geoff Dixon (right) had the power over who made the cut to the Chairman’s Lounge

One observer has described the relationship bet6ween leading politicians such as PM Anthony Albanese and the former Qantas CEO
Alan Joyce (above) as ‘alarmingly cosy’

‘Why on earth is Qantas giving a controversial shock jock membership of
its Chairman’s Lounge, which is supposedly to enable our
elite politicians and business leaders some privacy from
the hoi polloi?’ demanded Crikey reporter Stephen Mayne
    at the time.

‘The Chairman’s Lounge is meant to be all about discretion and confidentiality,’ he said, accusing Price of breaking
    ‘a confidence’.

The following year, before he was succeeded as Qantas CEO by
Alan Joyce, Geoff Dixon was the sole gatekeeper of entry into the club’s hushed confines.

Qantas Chairman’s Lounge membership was ‘so exclusive
that you have to be personally invited by the airline’s chieftain’, Nine newspapers reported in 2008.

‘A marvellous benefit of lounge membership is that the mega rich
and powerful avoid having to mingle with the riffraff who
    will be travelling cattle class.

‘Having said that, members of the ultra-exclusive club have
    included Pauline Hanson.

‘Another lounge member is Brad Cooper, who is currently enjoying
a prolonged exposure to cattle-class in Kirkconnell Correctional Centre.’ (Cooper was the former HIH insurance executive jailed for eight years on fraud and bribery offences).

Membership of the elite lounge is confined to about 6000 Australians including politicians from both sides,
senior public servants, TV stars and actors

The ‘scandal’ currently engulfing Anthony Albanese about his
Chairman’s Lounge membership and that of his ex-wife
Carmel Tebbutt, and their son Nathan could bring down the prime minister (above the PM with partner Jodie Haydon and ex-Qantas CEO
    Alan Joyce)

The report noted that politicians declaring membership of the lounge
‘which most of their spouses got too’ in their pecuniary interests that year included Liberal MPs
of the day, Philip Ruddock, Bob Baldwin and Andrew Southcott.

Labor MPs with lounge privileges included Tanya Plibersek, Bob McMullan, and Sharon Grierson, and Martin Ferguson declared a bottle of Grange hermitage as a gift from Qantas, as
    did Liberal, Christopher Pyne.

Asked if all MPs got the captain’s pick from Geoff Dixon, the airline’s spokesperson  told Nine:
‘We like to retain a bit of mystery. Membership is by invitation only and it is reviewed periodically.’

Fast forward to today, and nearly every single
federal politician in the country has accepted free membership of the controversial, invitation-only lounge with one even describing it as an ‘entitlement’.

Qantas and the Albanese government recently denied the
‘very, very high-end perk’ gives the airline a disproportionate level of influence over the
    country’s politicians.

They were commenting ahead of the launch of the new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston, which has stirred up the controversy.

A Daily Mail Australia audit of the members’ interest registers –
in both Federal Parliament’s House of Representatives and the Senate – revealed almost 93 per cent of the nation’s leaders have been ‘gifted’ membership to the lavish, all-inclusive lounge.

Mr Albanese has defended himself by saying he declared
all his benefits in pecuniary interest statements.

At a press conference this week, he repeated
that all of his upgrades ‘have been declared as appropriate.
    What’s appropriate is transparency.’

Apart from the PM, members include every one of his
22-person Cabinet, his seven-person Outer Ministry and
    all 12 assistant ministers.

PM Anthony Albanese and every member of his 22-person Cabinet, his
seven-person Outer Ministry and all 12 assistant ministers are members of the exclusive
    Chairman’s Lounge

Entry to the country’s six opulent VIP clubs are suitably discreet, but once inside,
the designer lounges offer free à la carte fine dining, table service and a discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants

On the Coalition side of parliament, Opposition Leader Peter Dutton, deputy leader David Littleproud
and former deputy Barnaby Joyce are also among the swathes of politicians who have disclosed they have taken up free membership to
    the contentious club.

Bill Shorten is a member, Tanya Plibersek is still a member and
so is Teal MP, Zali Steggall.

Last year it was reported that Australian Competition and Consumer
Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Joe Longo
and some of their deputies are members of the Chairman’s
    Lounge despite regulating the airline.

Senior public servants in the club included Department of Prime Minister and Cabinet secretary Glyn Davis, deputy
secretaries Nadine Williams, Liz Hefren-Webb, Rachel Bacon and ambassador to Beijing, Scott Dewar.

Other Qantas freebies bestowed on members include numerous business class flight upgrades, model Qantas aircrafts, frequent flyer points, and tickets
    to sporting and entertainment events.

Touted as ‘the most exclusive club in the country’, membership to the Chairman’s Lounge is still veiled in secrecy.

The new book The Chairman’s Lounge by former Australian Financial Review columnist Joe Aston (above) has
    stirred up the controversy

Australian Competition and Consumer Commission chairwoman Gina Cass-Gottlieb and Australian Securities and Investments Commission chairman Joe
Longo are members despite regulating the airline

Even the entrances to each of the country’s six opulent VIP
clubs – in Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Canberra and Perth airports – are suitably discreet.

Once inside, however, the designer lounges are noticeably luxurious, with free à la carte
fine dining, table service, a decadent selection of wines and Champagne and a
discreet army of dedicated lounge attendants.

Virgin Airlines has its own version of the VIP enclave, the
    ‘Beyond’ lounge.

Only a handful of federal politicians have relinquished their membership to the
Qantas Chairman’s Lounge in the wake of the furore.

The select few to take a principled stand on the issue
include South Australian senator Barbara Pocock and former Wallabies star turned ACT senator
David Pocock, along with MPs Stephen Bates, Queensland Green Elizabeth Watson-Brown, and Monique Ryan, a Teal from Victoria.

Geoffrey Watson SC, a former counsel assisting the Independent Commission Against
Corruption and a director of the Centre for Public Integrity, has implored all politicians and policymakers to follow suit.

‘There are certain positions in life where you cannot take
    Chairman’s Club membership,’ he said.

‘You’re taking public money for the job and you are supposed to represent the public.
Why not sit with them while you’re waiting for a plane?’

  14. Hello there! I know this is kind of off topic but I was wondering which blog platform are you using for this site?
I’m getting sick and tired of WordPress because I’ve had issues with hackers and I’m looking at alternatives for another platform.

I would be fantastic if you could point me in the direction of a good platform.

The follow-up to the Oscar-winning 2019 film, starring Joaquin Phoenix as Arthur Fleck (Joker) and Lady Gaga as Lee Quinzel
(Harley Quinn), faced negative reviews from critics before its October 4 release and flopped at the box office.

Tim, 39, who played a guard at Arkham Asylum in the movie, said Todd Philips’s
new film has ‘no plot’ and admitted he knew it was ‘going to bomb’ while filming.

Speaking on The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, Tim said: ‘It’s the worst film
    ever made.

‘I think what happened, after the first Joker, there was a lot of
talk like, ‘Oh, this was loved by incels. This was loved by the wrong kinds of people.
This sent the wrong kind of message. Male rage! Nihilism!

‘And then I think, ‘What if we went the other way,’ and now they have Joaquin Phoenix and Lady Gaga tap dancing to a
    point where it’s insane.’

He continued: ‘It has no plot. We would sit there, me and these other guys were all dressed in these security outfits because we’re working at the Arkham Asylum, and I would turn to one of them and
we’d hear this crap and I’d go, ‘What the f*** is this?’
And they’d go, ‘This is going to bomb, man.’ I go,

‘We were talking about it at lunch, and we’d go, ‘What is the plot?

Is there a plot? I don’t know, I think he falls in love with her in the prison?’ It’s not even hate-watchable.
    That’s how terrible it is.’

Despite the negative reviews a number of fans of the sequel took to
social media after its release last month to defend the sequel to Todd Phillips’ 2019 motion picture.

The film debuted to a paltry $40 million at the domestic
box office, good enough for the weekend’s top
spot, but less than projections, and half that of its predecessor.

Amid the early returns, a number of fans
took up for the movie and its cinematic depth, in breaking away from the
cookie cutter nature of sequels to introduce a musical element
not present in the first film, with Lady Gaga joining the franchise.

‘Joker 2 was amazing,’ one user said, adding
that it was ‘100% as divisive as people are making it out
to be. I love that the film didn’t try to be a
traditional sequel, and fully committed to the storytelling they
presented. It never deviated to be a film full of Easter eggs or any other crowd pleasing aspects.’

Another user said, ‘I kinda loved Joker 2.
I loved how it was structured as a meta-exploration of the first film’s fandom and
the musical elements were a lot of fun.’

    2019 motion picture

One user marvelled that Joker 2 is ‘getting universal hate
despite being more interesting and creative than anything marvel has done in years is expected.’

It comes after lead star Lady Gaga was left ‘disappointed’ at the immense flood of negative reactions
to Joker: Folie à Deux, with the singer’s team now
keen to quickly push out other projects to help distract from
the furore over the film, insiders claim.

Todd Phillips‘ sequel has bombed, raking in just under $40 million at the domestic box office, and receiving the lowest CinemaScore in comic book
    movie history.

Gaga, 38, is reportedly confused at the lack of love for
her turn as Harleen Lee Quinzel, aka Harley Quinn, alongside Joaquin Phoenix, 49, as the
Joker – a role that won him the best actor Oscar in 2019 – in the wake
of the standing ovation it received at the Venice Film
    Festival last month.

‘Gaga is surprised by the response to Joker 2 and is shocked that people don’t love it
after the response it received from critics before it
premiered,’ a source exclusively told DailyMail.com.

‘She put so much heart into the movie and has so much respect
for the DC comics fan base.’

They added: ‘Her team is quietly looking at other projects
they can roll out as they want to move on this from as quickly as possible.’

But despite the lacklustre reception from fans, a second source claimed she is not
letting it deter her from returning to the big screen,
with the singer said to be eyeing up a Quentin Tarantino movie.
